Privacy Policy

Effective date: 19 September 2026

Trending Weather is an app for viewing data from your WeatherFlow Tempest weather station on iPhone, iPad and Mac. This policy explains what information the app handles, where it goes, and how you can remove it.

The short version

Information the app handles

To read your station, Trending needs an access credential for your WeatherFlow account, you can either login with your Tempest account or a Personal access token you generate on their website.

Either way, the token is stored in the Apple Keychain on your device. If you use iCloud Keychain, Apple syncs it, end-to-end encrypted, to your other devices signed in to the same Apple Account, so the app works there without signing in again. The token is sent only to WeatherFlow's servers, with each request the app makes on your behalf.

When you sign in with Tempest ID, the app reads the account identifier embedded in the token (typically your email address or username) and keeps it on your device solely to show which account is connected on the Settings screen. It is not transmitted anywhere.

Your station and its weather data

The app downloads from WeatherFlow the details of the stations on your account (station name, location coordinates, elevation, time zone and device serial numbers) and the weather observations and forecasts for the station you select. It keeps a local copy of your station's observation history on your device so charts and calendar views work quickly and offline.

The station coordinates are used only to calculate sunrise, sunset and clear-sky solar values for that station. Trending does not use your device's location and never asks for location permission.

Information the developer receives

None from the app itself. If you choose to share crash reports or TestFlight feedback with developers through Apple's settings, Apple may pass along anonymised diagnostic information as described in Apple's privacy policy. The developer cannot identify you from it.

Removing your data

Changes to this policy

If the app's handling of data changes, this policy will be updated and the effective date revised. Material changes will be noted in the App Store release notes.
